Our MISSION

Happy to Help

To help improve the health of those currently experiencing homelessness and for the less fortunate in our community.

Sunny Street is a Nurse Led mobile outreach unit with Doctors and Nurse Practitioners providing primary healthcare and complex coordination services for homeless and vulnerable individuals and families.

Our mission is to facilitate community connectivity and improve access to health care options.

The service is both owned and operationally managed locally by the Medical Director, Dr Nova Evans, and the Nursing Director, Sonia Goodwin.

WHAT DO WE DO?

HOW CAN SUNNY STREET HELP?

Specifically for those who are homeless and have little, to no access to proper health care.
This can be one of the most trying and confronting times for someone in this situation.

We want to help give them a glimmer of hope. We want them to know we care. We want to educate them on how we can help.

We want to be positive about their future.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Spread the word – We want to educate the world on the great work we do at Sunny Street. We want people to be interested in finding out more about us. We want them to know we care.

Volunteer – We are always seeking enthusiastic people including nurses and doctors to join our team and help vulnerable people and really make a difference to the community.

Please contact us at info@sunnystreet.org to donate medical equipment or for opportunities to create collaborative partnerships and/or sponsorship.

Our Values

Break down barriers

We are a team of innovative healthcare disruptors who break down barriers by disabling hierarchy and meeting people where they are at in their healthcare journey.

Empower authenticity

We empower our Sunny Street community to be authentic in their actions, communications, and relationships to foster genuine connections.

Foundation of gratitude

We deliver palpable kindness and compassion. We maintain self awareness to respectfully ‘lean in’ to a persons experience in a non-judgemental way.

Magic in relationships

We approach work and life with a positive, contagious energy which flows through our relationships within the Sunny Street community.  Our team culture is based upon laughter and fun to connect and deliver hope.

Make an Impact

We take our awareness of homelessness and vulnerability and share it with the world.  We give a voice to rarely heard people whose stories generate community change through education and research.

MAKING A DIFFEREnCE

Testimonials

Thanks Sunny Street for your commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of those experiencing homelessness and/or marginalised. I have not only watched the physical health of those who attend your clinics improve but also their mental health and attitudes shift from a negative to a more positive and optimistic one.

Maroochy Neighbourhood Centre

Sunny Street provide a vital service for the young people accessing Night Cafe. Previous to Sunny Street being in the space, Night Café workers have had limited options in terms of escalation of care for young people looking to access health care. Often times, the young persons accessing night café have a history of trauma when accessing mainstream health care, the outcome being a refusal to go with emergency services and or refusal of accessing mainstream health care options the next day. Sunny Streets’ unique approach to health care solutions coupled with their trauma informed consultation makes them a very accessible service to persons in this situation who may or may not access health care through mainstream avenues. In terms of Night Café this well and truly has been the trend we have noticed. Young people whose quality of life has been impaired by barriers to health care have found a pathway to access health care in a way that is safe, accessible, and affordable to them.

WINDO interviews Sunny Street's Founders

Twelve months ago Dr Nova Evans and Sonia Goodwin came to a WINDO International Women's Week Festival event that inspired them to finally take the plunge, leaving their jobs to start Sunny Street, a pioneering service providing mobile healthcare and better options for the homeless and vulnerable in south-east Queensland. At the 'When Sleeping Women Wake, Mountains Move' Community Leadership Conference, Amanda Blennerhassett from Brand Savvy caught up with them to find out more.Thank you to Tiffany Sly - The Art of Modern Real Estate Coaching for taking this video.
